4 Beauty Superfoods To Keep Your Skin Glowing

It can’t be stressed enough how the importance of eating healthy benefits our skin. In the same way that drinking multiple litres of water a day keeps us hydrated and our skin from aging sooner (University of Wisconsin, 2017), eating healthy enhances your skin’s overall glow. Who doesn’t want glowing, smooth skin, not to mention a healthy body as well? The answer: no one. In the age of Glossier and the rise of the “no makeup makeup’ beauty philosophy, it’s no wonder superfoods have also gained momentum. As great as it is to have an arsenal of amazing beauty products to cleanse your skin and fight pesky breakouts, it’s even better to have a healthy body that rapidly regenerates damaged cells.

But in all fairness, sometimes it can be difficult incorporating healthy meals into our diets, especially when we’re busy juggling university and work. Sometimes a bag of Cheetos just has to do, but incorporating some of these beauty super foods could go a long way in improving your mind, body and soul.

Here are some super easy super foods to incorporate into your meal planner ASAP.

Avocados

This superfood is amazing, it’s packed with healthy fats and omega-3s, and helps fight dryness in the winter. Delicious as a spread on toast or as a guacamole dip.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes pair really well with avocados, and who would have thought that tomatoes are one of the best things we could eat for our skin. Here’s a great article that sums up all the benefits.

Almonds

Almonds are perfect for snacking on, almonds can be added to your breakfast or taken  as a rich snack on the go. These nuts are packed with many benefits including Vitamin E and Zinc, two ingredients that help fight inflammation. A small hand-full will provide you with the nutrients and good fats you are looking for.

Dark Chocolate

Mmmmm … chocolate! This seemingly indulgent ingredient is actually really good for you (as long as you’re eating at least 70% pure dark chocolate). It’s supposed to improve the texture of your skin, so have a square or two for dessert and your skin will be super smooth in no time.
