From the subtle interplay of grey and brown to the vibrant symphony of brighter tones, people embrace colour as a source of joy and self-expression. This year, luxury brands, celebrities, and fashion leaders have championed a revolution in hues, spotlighting Ancora Red, Transparent Yellow, Olive Green, and Navy Blue.
- Ancora Red
Gucci Rosso–also known as Ancora Red – is a deep and rich oxblood shade reimagined by Gucci’s new creative director, Sabato De Sarno. Embodying retro sophistication, the Burgundy hue defies traditional labels, balancing elegance with a modern edge. In a discussion with VOGUE, De Sarno describes Gucci Rosso as a reflection of Gucci’s “clear, mature, and elegant Italianity,” bridging the brand’s heritage with his Italian roots.
From high fashion stages to everyday wardrobes, Ancora Red has captivated style enthuhsiasts through the elegant trend through garments and accessories. Gucci Spring 2024 Ready-To-Wear Collection highlights this hue in leather garments and bold accents, revealing confidence and refinement. Meanwhile, Trussardi Fall 2016 Ready-To-Wear Collection pairsh silk, leather, and cashmere in complementary tones, evoking an intellectual and artistic vibe.
Instagram influencers have embraced Ancora Red in relatable ways, incorporating the shade into tops, bags, flats, accessories, and even nail designs. As De Sarno envisioned, Ancora Red is “something that you still have, but you want more of it because it makes you happy.”
- Transparent Yellow
In the darker days of fall, Transparent Yellow undoubtedly provides warmness and vitality. This soft, yet distinct hue, characterized by its high brilliance and low saturation, elevates any look to an optimistic state.
Picture a serene autumn scene: a young reading girl sits on a park bench, surrounded by golden leaves, lost in a book. Her yellow skirt, paired with a black cardigan and ballet flats, radiates an effortless blend of elegance and comfort.
Transparent Yellow brings such moments to life, offering an understated glow that feels as comforting as it looks.
- Olive Green
As lands and forests selflessly feed human beings with tolerance and sympathy, Olive Green emerged as a dominant trend following Burberry Fall 2024 Ready-To-Wear Collection. This hue is believed to be a love letter for appreciating the earth’s natural beauty. A V-neck sweater with a wavy skirt, the high-necked set, oversized coats, and knight boots; what a presentation of serenity, mystery, and profoundness.
For daily wear, olive-green knits foster warmth and individuality. Dakota Johnson’s latest street style – a black ensemble complemented by a suede olive-green tote from BOTTEGA VENETA – demonstrated the hue’s versatility. The aesthetic embracement of Olive Green is an elevation of human passion and an embrace of nature, originality, and connotation.
- Navy Blue
A chameleon of colour, Navy Blue embodies adaptability and sophistication, making it a wardrobe staple. Miu Miu captures its youthful energy and vigour with polos, skorts, and jackets, while other designers highlight dignity and elegance in tailored coats and knitwear.
Navy Blue’s allure extends to both business and casual settings. Businesswomen favour the hue for its chic, capable vibe, while younger audiences are drawn to Ralph Lauren’s cable-knit sweaters and skirts, which balance charm and innocence.
Celebrating these hues goes beyond attitudes and expression – it brightens life’s difficult or mundane moments. In the face of ups and downs, these colours inject a sense of joy and renewal when we need it most.
