Springtime historically brings an urge to purge and reinvent one’s personal spaces to provide a sense of newness and excitement. This coming spring is no exception—with lockdown orders overstaying their welcome, too much time’s been spent in the same location working and studying; we’re tired of our surroundings.
Many of us are turning towards online retailers to address this issue, as redecorating or even rearranging can provide the fresh start we need to stay inspired and productive. Much like the newfound boom in loungewear sales, many retailers have shifted their focus towards houseware to appeal to their customers’ new domestic-centred lifestyles.
An abundance of locally-owned retailers offer vintage-inspired and handmade goods to curate an aesthetically pleasing environment to relax and work from home. As someone in the process of moving, I’ve had my eye on a few Toronto-based shops that offer housewares that are both pleasing to look at and functional.
