6 Stylish Looks to Wear on New Year’s Eve

With one day until we finally say buh-bye to the mess of a year that was 2017, we figured you might be in need of a good celebration. And with this celebration on the horizon, we thought it only appropriate to help you get dressed for whatever shindig you have planned for ringing in the new year. This is the season of giving after all.

Taking all the hottest trends we’ve seen emerge over the last 365 days – from metallics, to fur, to streamlined suiting and bold shoulder pads – we styled a troupe of ridiculously stylish party goers. We colour blocked metallic party pieces with statement earrings and dewy makeup. We juxtaposed a feminine body con with an oversized, super-structured blazer. We paired fur with patent leather and mixed a slinky mini skirt with a barely there blouse fit for the club.

For the guys we kept it casual and comfortable – because fellas you can’t go wrong with some well tailored pants and a classic button down. Feel free to dress up your casual ensemble with a statement blazer – maybe velvet if you’re feeling adventurous – or don a swanky pair of animal print shoes – snakeskin perhaps? Add a bow tie if you’re attending a more formal celebration, or a cowl neck sweater to keep warm while relaxing with family.

If we were to make analogies,  2017 was the year of the rowdy 90’s teenager who flaunts anything goes dressing ideas and romanticizes bad sartorial decision making. 2017 in a nutshell was the year of “party girl” according to Vogue and so we thought it fitting to use these newly resurgent trends as inspiration. 2018 on the other hand we see as the cool hippie older sister whose dressing decisions are more mindful and practical, and rely on old classics and a lot of vintage.

So whether you take your cues from the ’90s supermodels for your sartorial inspiration, or you cop some of the beauty looks our models rocked during the shoot – think big lashes, metallics and hella shimmery – we hope SC and the year 2017 has given you enough inspiration to attend your NYE bash with confidence. Happy New Year!
