Is it just us or is half the fun of fashion week getting to see your favourite fashion “it” girls (and guys) strut their stylish looks along the streets of every major fashion city? Whether it’s New York or Milan the outfits of those attending the exclusive shows never disappoint. Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week was no different. We’ve been seeing a shift in fashion show attendees in recent seasons, with guest lists becoming more permeated with bloggers than fashion editors. These week long collection previews that were originally concocted exclusively for buyers and *official* press have turned into more of a social media rodeo than a hush hush sneak peek at next season’s wears. Regardless, the fashion mavens attending the shows today continue to impress, bringing more and more glamour, fearlessness and attitude to their looks each season.
From seasoned veterans like Olivia Palermo to newcomers with major followings like Aimee Song (@songofstyle) and Camila Coelho, the #lewks photographed outside the Fall 2017 Couture shows did not disappoint. We also couldn't help but think: isn't it nice to see serious attention being brought back to the world of haute couture, thanks in part (in our humble opinion) to street style? After all, haute couture isn't a readily consumed sector of the fashion industry, with actual customers of this elite-level price point being few and far between. Gone are the days of wealthy aristocrats employing couturiers to craft all their garments for them, and hello to us being able to enjoy every collection from afar via Instagram Live! Despite the fact that the founding fathers of Haute Couture may be rolling in their graves at today's current state of affairs, we think this expanded accessibility is a good thing. After all it has allowed many people to appreciate these one of a kind garments for what they truly represent: the best in craftsmanship and design. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
