Descending from the likes of Wang, Proenza and Armani, the neither shorts nor trousers trend took the street style world by storm. Donned by some of our favourites including Leandra (themanrepeller.com) and Danielle (weworewhat.com), I knew this trend was going to be one of my favourites but I also had a feeling that it might not be my go-to pair to sport during the frosty Canadian winters. However, when I spotted Ryerson Fashion Communication student, Lindsay Clarke equalize a pair of exposed ankles with a gorgeous fur coat on the streets of New York City, I knew there was hope.

“Working them into your closet is all about playing with the right proportions. Since they’re usually high-waisted and fall at mid-calf, I find they work well with tops or jackets on the shorter side. Here, I’m wearing mine with a faux fur coat I love for the winter but for the spring time, I would switch up the coat for a silky blouse. In terms of shoes, I usually like to balance out my culottes with something sleek and feminine like the pair of pointed toe booties I am wearing. The nice thing about culottes is that they are so versatile for any occasion, I dress them up or down and wear them day or night!” – Lindsay Clarke
